As Easy as 1-2-3

Despite this being near the end of the summer and Vancouver's dry period when watering every day is necessary, this gardener is creating a new boulevard garden, a raised bed in three parts. The three sections of this garden-in-the-making neatly demonstrate the steps needed.

1. Build the raised bed and collect cardboard to stop the grass from growing.
2. Spread soil on the cardboard.

3. Plant!

Here is the entire boulevard garden with its three sections:
P.S. This is a lot of work...

this year I did kind of the same thing - minus the built in walls and instead of cardboard i dug up all the grass.. yeah, that sucked. but now we have veggies! yay!
