When the back yard is not adequate, a growing number of urban residents create front yard vegetable gardens, or they plant vegetables in the back lane. Documented here are endeavors, small and larger, to plant vegetables and fruits in front yards, lanes, and other unexpected places in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and beyond.

Oh everyones always got an opinion on how things should look. As any gardener knows things are always a work in progress. Yes, some bylaws are put in place to keep neigbourhoods from looking to wild, but if things are kept within an exceptable state, I think homeowners/occupants should be able to grow what they wish.
I just had a look at the property on google maps streetview and it is not just "untidy", it has more weeds than vegetables and I can see why neighbours would complain.
